This collaborative program, established on the Los Medanos Community College campus in Pittsburg to help normalize the transition from high school, is perfect for the consumer whose goals include attending community college, independent living, enhanced integration into the community, less need for ongoing support, and greater vocational achievement.  Students receive support in the following areas:

 

  • Mobility training to travel independently from home to the campus and/or to work

  • Assistance in choosing the appropriate college courses

  • Support throughout the financial aid process

  • Connecting students with tutors and note-takers

  • Independent Living assessments and support services

  • Opportunities for vocational training and experience

  • Support to access a variety of social recreation and leisure activities

  • Peer support and and family networking.
