Futures Explored has always believed that people with developmental disabilities can, and have the right to, earn wages at their jobs in the community just as their non-disabled peers do.
Through our Supported Employment Program, consumers are evaluated and, if ready, are placed in an appropriate job in the community. Futures Explored Employment Specialists provide ongoing support and additional training as needed.
Work skill proficiency and the amount of supervision required determine whether a consumer goes into an individual placement or an enclave (group) site.
Supported Employment participants are encouraged to attend our Job club. This group meets regularly to discuss work issues, share stories, receive agency news, form friendships and occasionally go on group outings and mini vacations. All Futures field trips are open to the Supported Employment consumers. The Supported Employment Program is available to adults with developmental disabilities who meet Department of Rehabilitation eligibility requirements. Consumers receiving training in job-seeking skills, development of good work habits, support for long term employability, and appropriate social skills. This is followed by placement in appropriate jobs to their employment desires and abilities. |
